Inspired by the original design by the Hans J. Wegner, Manhattan Home Design’s Bear Lounge Chair And Ottoman takes on the animal kingdom with its organic and playful design. The Bear Lounge Chair is named after the comfortable sensation of a pair of great bear paws’ embrace from behind.

One of our most popular designs, this is a timeless piece of maximum comfort. Its strongly joint wooden frame is shaped to create a solid base for the extensive and time-honored upholstery work.

The comfortable upholstery work is constituted by four natural materials: cotton fiber, palm fiber, flax fiber, and horsehair. Combined with metal springs, Manhattan Home Deign’s Bear Lounge Chair and Ottoman provide a tender support for the back. Like a good wine, this chair will only get better with time.

Hans J. Wegner was an internationally famous designer from Denmark, best known for his chair and seating pieces. Wegner’s elegance, devotion to details and form helped coin the term “Danish Modern” a synonym for stylish and well-made mid-century furniture.

Several of Hans J. Wegner’s best furniture designs are based on classical traditional seating forms. Wegner was a designer who enjoyed working with wood, and this passion it’s reflected in every piece of work. The way he worked on wood combining patina and character with age, to the point that his work is a testimony of his life.
