Inspired by the original mid-century design of Harry Bertoia, the Manhattan Home Design’s Diamond Chair is a striking testimony and exercise of how space, form, and function can be given shape by one of the true master sculptors and designers of the last century. Manufactured following the exact same specifications and materials from the original design, the Diamond Wire Chairs are one of the most distinguished contributions to the mid-century modern design and a cornerstone piece in our contemporary furniture collection.

Manhattan Home Design’s Diamond Chair is an emboldened mixture of internal durability contrasted by fine details and delicate lines which have imbued this chair with industrial charm and elevated it beyond its typical practicality to a true mid-century and modern masterpiece. Its converging chrome plated iron frame and seating pad seamlessly adjust to create a comfortable, innovative and attractive chair.

About the Designer

Harry Bertoia was an Italian-born American modern furniture and jewelry designer. Bertoria attended the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he befriended many design luminaries such as Walter Gropius, Edmund N. Bacon, Ray and Charles Eames, and Eero Saarinen; fellow students who were a relevant inspiration and influence to Bertoia in later years.

In 1950, at the invitation of Hans and Florence Knoll, Harry moved to eastern Pennsylvania with the freedom to design what he wished. The Bertoia chair collection was introduced in 1952 by Knoll. In the span of a couple of years, the Diamond Chair became part of the modern furniture movement of the 50s, later referred to as Midcentury Modern. Harry Bertoia produced tens of thousands of pieces of art during his short life.

During his lifetime and since his death, many universities and museums have paid tribute and honorary degrees to Harry Bertoia. Collectors all over the world keep showing appreciation upon Bertoia until this day.
