Maybe is not the first name that comes to your mind when you think of Mid Century Modern and interior design, but it turns out that Jason Statham (The Transporter, Fast and Furious, and more recently the Netflix series Shadow and Bone ) has a very well established reputation as house renovator and real estate business man.
Actually, he once declared: “I’m always looking for places to either renovate or to buy, to move up the ladder (…) I am constantly looking and trying to find the next project to be a part of.” But is not about being a real state flipper. Statham is actually a little obsessed with interior design and Mid Century Modern, and he looks not only to find good architects for its projects, but enjoy to working closely with them, selecting personally the main items of furniture and décor and taking the process step by step, from the beginning.
The L.A. House was its second home since he arrives to live in the States. Located in Rising Glen Road, it wasn't in its best years when he found it. But The Transporter took the challenge, and he embarked in a 18 month period with the help of the renowned architect Jeff Allsbrook. The Interior Design was assigned to Courtney Applebaum. The initial premises of the restauration were to leave the outdoor design as original it could be, but with a deep indoor restauration taking the most advantage of the natural sun and with Mid Century Modern as the main style guide.
According to sources, the house was initially acquired for $ 10.6 million, and it was sold for $18.5 million. Nothing bad. A very profitable renovation job by the tough British actor and his wife Rosie Huntington.
