What type of bed should I get for my mid-century bedroom?
Posted by Manhattan Home Design on Dec 12th 2018
This question might appear stupid for a lot of people: you’re going to get the bed that fits you. If you’re a big person, you get yourself a king-size bed, right? But your bed is not the only thing in your bedroom (if it is, that’s kind of weird). You can make it work together with other items to make your life much easier.
Choosing the appropriate size
Let’s start with this particular point. A lot of people think that they need to get the biggest bed possible, but if you sacrifice a little sleeping space, you can include some more mid-century items in your bedroom.
Suggested Item: Addison Bedroom Set
How much do you really know about bed sizes? Get a sense of the actual measurements and see if you would be better off with a bed that’s just a tad smaller. If you’re going full mid-century, you can consider a bed like Manhattan Home Design’s Addison Full Wood Bed ($1,355) or one of their Addison bedroom sets (similar price, more stuff included).
What defines a mid-century bed?
This question might be hard to answer, right? A bed is a bed is a bed. Is the place where you rest your head at night. Pillows, blankets, mattress, etc. However, a mid-century modernist bed is actually a thing. Here’s how you can spot one for yourself.
Suggested Item: Bedroom Furniture
Mid-century beds are usually minimalistic and less ornamented than other beds. They do come with a headboard (that’s actually an important part), and they are usually supported by skinny wooden legs.
Some great options for a mid-century bedroom
We can’t stop recommending Manhattan Home Design’s bedroom sets, since all four of them can provide a bedroom with the mid-century feeling. Though they might seem expensive for some people, they are actually quite affordable is you compare them to other bedroom items by “certified” dealers.
If you’re just looking for a bed, we also recommend the fluffy Skye full bed ($1,103) or the gorgeous Abigail king bed ($1,291) for starters.
