Furniture for kids: The Bubble chair
Posted by Manhattan Home Design on Jan 7th 2019
Finding furniture for your kids, and getting your kids to actually appreciate furniture, can be really difficult. Furniture is usually boring for them, since an actual appreciation of design and aesthetics usually develops later in life. But that doesn’t mean children can’t enjoy furniture, especially if you know what to buy, and you introduce it to them in the right way.
Manhattan Home Design’s Bubble chair
Even though some people might confuse this for a Hans Wegner design, the Bubble chair is actually an Eero Arnio original, and it’s very popular with kids and teenagers. Think about how his furniture sibling, the Ball chair, has been depicted in the media. One of its most famous appearances has been in the room of a 15-year-old. Add a chain for it to hang, and you get the Bubble chair.

As an added point, when we think about child’s play, we usually think about the outdoors and tire swings, though this might seem like a dated idea for many people. In any case, a lot of children love swings, especially if they come with a comfortable, individual cozy space that they can call their own.
Price and build
MHD’s Bubble chair is made from clear acrylic, which is highly durable, and the seat is 100% vinyl, soft and sleek. The chain is 8 feet long, and you might want to cut it depending on your ceiling height, but you get enough chain length to do so comfortably. Weight capacity is 300 lbs.

Starting at $810, this is a really affordable choice in children’s furniture, and if you don’t have enough room on your child’s bedroom to assemble it, you can always think about putting it outdoors. The important thing is that is has enough room to swing around (but not too much).
