That is why we have taken a look back and we remember one of the most iconic terms in interior design around 2016, and that will undoubtedly be of great use this and the coming years. We are talking about nothing more and nothing less than the Danish term "hygge", remember? You may have read about this term that became so viral years ago, but if not, don't worry! Here we have created a mini-guide about what hygge is and how to make your house fit with its fundamentals. In addition, we will show you the Egg chair; one of the most iconic Danish pieces, and how it will help you achieve your goal. Let's start!

What is the Danish term Hygge?

As we mentioned earlier, the “hygge” Danish term refers to two main things; creating a warm environment and enjoying the simple things in life. As you see, this can be seen from two points of view. It can be seen as a lifestyle and it can be seen as a way of arranging your space. An example of hygge can be the warm glow of candlelight, sitting around with friends and family, and spaces where has included cozy things.

As we are referring to interior design, the following information is related to it.

How can you achieve Hygge? | Examples with Egg chair

Simple & functional furniture

This is one of the main important factors to consider when you want to achieve hygge in your home. When looking for this kind of furniture you can select through mid-century modern or minimalist pieces because both styles take simplicity and transform it into something unique and gorgeous. This just is the case of the Egg chair made by Arne Jacobsen.

Built-in cabinets and furniture, wall shelves instead of bookcases, and nested tables instead of a larger alternative are a good way to start!

Include natural materials

Materials like wood, wool, aniline leather, rattan, and even cotton will help you to achieve hygge because they will soft the textures within the house. I mean, who doesn’t fin cozy an aniline leather sofa like the Le Corbusier sofa?

Add lounging corners

This is another way to achieve your goal. The lounging corners are very easy to create and the change they cause is enormous. By simply adding an armchair, small table, and lamp, you can easily create the perfect place for different activities.
