A Modern Sofa: The Perfect Element To Divide Open-Concept Areas

Posted by Eloy on Nov 5th 2020

Traditional interior designs have, for many years, relied on clearly defined areas and compartments. In the past, it was usual for any house to have the common-use sites organized in a very specific way, delimited from an architectural point of view. Whoever was in the living room couldn't see what someone else was doing in another area, be it the kitchen, the dining room, or in any other compartment. However, open-concept floor plans have become a very accepted trend. Some elements, such as a modern sofa, tend to have high relevance in the configuration of these spaces.

Some users consider themselves bitter enemies of open-concept floor plans, considering that they cannot offer the same level of privacy and organization as traditional interior designs. The general idea is that an open floor can have cohesive areas, but not coincident. In other words, the activities carried out in one fragment should not interrupt those carried out in another, as if they were independent spaces, but at the same time, they are all part of the same area, as if it were a large multipurpose room. Surely, you're already imagining why this configuration is especially useful for studio apartments or for interior designs in Industrial, Boho, Rustic, or any other style that can be adapted to large living rooms.

A Modern Sofa Can Do More For Your Home Than You Think

One of the main reasons why a midcentury sofa can help you generate that sense of visual division that you'll need if you decide to undertake this type of product is because these pieces are usually large. They have prominent proportions and designs that look very fine from any angle. It's common and even typical for a modern sectional to become, for example, not only the focal point of the area but the object helping to reinforce the illusion that the living room is marked and has limits. In reality, limits are invisible, and there's no wall or dividing element there that does that job.

Recently, changes in people's lifestyles and the way we conceive living spaces have made open-floors more and more popular and, in fact, a style of design much sought after by home buyers. It's common for the open area of a house to now be a home office, a virtual classroom, a gym, and a place to watch Netflix and relax. Fulfilling all these roles at the same time is more practical if they're spacious, multifunctional, and properly integrated spaces. On the other hand, there's a great appreciation for the materials. There are very versatile pieces such as leather sofas that, because it's a finish compatible with practically any decorating style, will work well in most cases.

In addition to all of the above, remember that an open floor plan is a key to an invaluable source of creativity, allowing you to take full advantage of the area's flexibility and properties. You don't have to think long and hard to figure out why it might be the most appropriate way to create your home interior design. Not only the best sofas can help you in that sense, but also the rugs, the sideboards, the floor lamps, and any other element that's part of that wonderful modern floor plan that you need.
