Posted by Manhattan Home Design on Jun 23rd 2017

One of the most anomalistic holidays to honor, is the Fourth of July - celebrating a free and independent America. There is something magical about this day! Maybe it’s the warm and sunny weather on the inside or like true Americans revering all things grilled and smoked! Delicious food aromas all around or the magnificent fireworks. Perhaps, it could also be spending that precious time with your friends and family.

Nonetheless, have you considered what you’re going to have on your patio when you throw the big, annual independence party? Not to mention, this is one of the best times to invest in furniture as Fourth of July offers the best deals ever! Ok. Ok. Sales distract us! :)

Not digressing much, are you planning to refresh your backyard’s look and buy some outdoor furniture this year? If you are, we’ve got some top tips for you to keep in mind when buying outdoor furniture:

1. Know your turf

Key thing to keep in mind when buying outdoor furniture is the space. Firstly, you look at the amount of space you have since it will determine the kind of furniture you need to purchase. For example, if your patio size is small, you could get a bar table set rather than a full-sized table with chairs to conserve space.

Secondly, it is important to know the kind of flooring your furniture will be resting on. Is it on a hard or soft surface. This will help you determine whether you need light weight furniture or something more sturdy.

2. Come rain or shine!

We wouldn’t usually pay much attention to this, but it is important for you know that the furniture you’re investing in in durable and can withstand all weather conditions. For example, if your patio receives ample rain, then wooden patio furniture may not be the best choice. If you like in a windy terrain, getting something durable would be a wise choice.

3. Know what you want

You should know the use of the outdoor furniture you’re buying. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your backyard, buy pieces that you will need. For example, if you’re going to to be eating a lot outside, then buy a dining table or if you’re just going to hang out with family and friends, you get a sectional sofa set that’ll suit your needs!

4. Green thumb all the way!

A big determinant in Mid Century Modern design is the random burst of colors. And colors are personal. If your furniture is going to be in the sun very often, don’t get darker colors. Get patio furniture that is neutral colors, hence, lasting longer.

5. Buy only stuff that’s superb!

This is the bomb! This one tip, will help you decide all about your furniture! There is no point in buying furniture that’s going to fade and die out in one season change. I am sure, you see a point there! Below are a few pointers to keep in mind on the make of the furniture:

  1. Aluminum is fine grained and rust-proof.
  2. Steel is heavy and strong, but will rust.
  3. Wrought iron is the strongest and heaviest of all patio furniture materials, and while it can be made rust-resistant, is not free of rot.
  4. Wood is a beautiful choice. Teak lasts for a long while and will weather beautifully over time.
  5. Buy patio furniture with cushions that removable and washable.
  6. Properly assembled pieces with no abrupt end glides.

The Fourth of July is usually the best time to get yourself feeling pampered with all the deals going on. It is often seen that the best sales on outdoor furniture in around the July 4th. SO, what are you waiting for? Get things rolling here!
